MATERIALS USED IN THE PRODUCTION OF WORK SHOWN ON THIS WEBSITE ARE LISTED BELOW IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER

Acrylic: a strong, durable, clear plastic that can be coloured

Aluminium: a pure elemental metal

Brass: an alloy (mixture) of various percentages of zinc and copper, the harder the brass the higher the content of zinc, different types of brass are created for different purposes

Copper: a pure elemental metal

Gilding metal: one of the brass alloys, which is relatively high in copper, making it quite soft to work with a similar feel to sterling silver

Mild steel: an alloy of iron and small amounts of other elements such as phosphorus and carbon, mild steel is a low carbon steel that cannot be hardened but is easier to work than harder steels such as stainless steel

Monel: an alloy composed of about 65% nickel and 35% copper, it is hard and does not tarnish

Nickel: a pure elemental metal

Silver: a pure elemental metal

Spinning quality silver: an alloy of 95% pure silver and 5% copper, it is softer than sterling silver and less prone to cracking when it is being formed, for example into a hollow vessel

Stainless steel: an alloy of iron and a number of other elements, most importantly chromium which gives stainless its corrosion resistance

Sterling silver: an alloy usually 92.5% pure silver, and 7.5% copper, sterling silver is harder than pure silver making it more practical for utility items and jewellery

Zinc: a pure elemental metal
